about

Unreleased Goa Records is proud to reissue digitally an extremely rare Goa Trance vinyl release from Swedish project Cosmic Voyager called "Ancient Tide". Jimmy Dylte started composing music of various genres with FastTracker2 during the 1994-95 season. He discovered Goa Trance in 1996 with the pioneering works of Man With No Name, Shakta, Transwave, and Hallucinogen, who were his main inspiration in that genre, along with music by great composers such as Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, and John Williams. These influences combined helped him develop his distinct style, a blend of Trance, Goa Trance, and Psytrance. The heavy focus on melodies in his music is characteristic of classic Trance, whereas the overall sound image and build-up is typical Goa/Psy. Tracks with a melody that "sticks" is what he always aimed to achieve. Deeply affected by the meaning of the "Aum" Hindu symbol, Jimmy called his project "Cosmic Voyager", to emphasize the spiritual, mythical and abstract nature of the origins of Goa Trance in the 1990's.

Jimmy was active in the tracker scene and produced several tracks for groups such as Explizit, HW Studios, Logic, Zone and Total Eclipse. At the end of the 90’s, Jimmy found an ad in a Swedish music magazine called "Musikermagasinet", about someone interested to release new artists in the Goa/Psytrance genre. He replied to the ad sending a demo titled "Ancient Tide". This track is a tribute to one of Jimmy’s favorite artists, Dreamweaver, and his famous Goa anthem "Ancient Skies"; the word "Tide" here refers to a stream of old trance influences. Psychoactivity Records offered Jimmy a vinyl release contract on the condition that he would produce two more tracks, which he did ("Welcome To A Better World" and "Lifepod (Remix)"). However the owner of the label disappeared shortly after the contract was signed, so Jimmy never saw a copy of his own release; just a few years ago, he discovered that this vinyl release was registered in Discogs.

After discussions about the release of the EP, Jimmy searched on old back-ups and hard-drives and miraculously retrieved several tracks he thought were lost for good. "Leia Aurora", which survived as a true wave file, has been added to the original vinyl tracks. Four other tracks, two of these by Jimmy’s duo project with Claudio Marino called "EP314", were extracted from floppy disks and are offered here as an addendum.

All tracks were produced between 1996 and 1999 with the following gear:
Computer with Cakewalk/Sonar as sequencer
Soundblaster AWE-64 gold for some samples

Synths/FX:
Yamaha CS1x
Alesis QS6
Syntecno TeeBee-303

They were once available at Cosmic Voyager’s homepage and played only at local parties. Unreleased Goa Records is very happy to make them available worlwide for the first time ever.
