Unreleased Goa Records proudly presents "Anaconda’s Dance", the extended album version of the Opale EP previously released on DAT Records in 2015. Gregory Bailay started to produce Goa Trance in the early 90’s. He first made music together with his childhood friends Christof Drouillet (Absolum) and Frédéric Holyszewski (Deedrah), known as the legendary Transwave duo. His style was initially techno hardcore in the same vein as the notorious DJs Manu le Malin, Laurent Hô and Liza N’Elias. Greg worked as the editor of the hardcore fanzine TNT together with Michel Comte (Professeur Diabolique), and took part in the first Teknivals with the Spiral Tribe. In 1992, he chose the name "Opale" for his musical project. This gem stone sparkles with a thousand fires, its colours inspire purity and switches from clarity to brightness. Greg saw there an analogy with trance music, which can be full of life and sweetness.
"Anaconda’s Dance", the title of this album, does not refer only to the ultimate Opale hit that circulated like crazy on DAT tapes during the 90’s, but also epitomizes the very style of Greg’s music. The anaconda is a very cunning, powerful animal that watches over its prey, hides in the penumbra, its head moves from right to left trying to determine where the sound comes from, its eyes do not know which way to look; then it catches its prey and never lets go until there is a change in sound... and the process starts all over again. In the same fashion, Greg’s style is mostly melodic, accompanied by sequences that come and go a lot, with many changes in sound and powerful catchy movements that provide a feeling of joy and pleasure.
All tracks were produced between 1992 and 2005. Some tracks were previously released on one EP and two compilations, but have been unavailable in digital form for some time now. Greg started working with an Atari 520 ST (only in Midi/with Pro 24 sequencer) and continued with Cubase VST. For the tracks produced in the 90’s he used the following equipment:
Soundcraft Spirit Folio Mixer (6 channels)

In 1992, Greg attended a trance event at Rennes with artists such as Underground Resistance, Jeff Mills, Juantrip', Frankie Bones, The Orb, 808 State, Oliver Bondzio and Hardfloor, who helped him shape his approach on electronic music. Other major influences were X-Dream, Juno Reactor, Blue Planet Corporation, The Overlords and Prana.
During the 90’s, Greg never had the opportunity to play at parties. However, he did play at his basement, where artists and DJs such as Virtuart, Saïdu, Transwave, Talamasca paid him regular visits. In 2017, he played for the Puzzle on DATs event in Israel, and in 2019 for the Taïma project in Tours and the Unity of Love party in Portugal. Greg would like to thank again Federico, Mark and Vas for helping him to promote his music everywhere.

DAT Universe sublabel, perceived as a logical continuation and the final phase of the “Unreleased Goa Project”, that exists since 2007. The aim is to release in digital format until now hidden and obscure Goa Trance tracks, or re-release rare albums.
